Alexander Grant is a Research Fellow in the School of Mathematical Sciences at University of Southampton.
Alexander Grant currently works in two areas of classical general relativity: the self-force, the influence that emitted gravitational waves have on the orbit of a small, stellar-mass body into a large, supermassive black hole, and memory effects, which are non-oscillatory components of the gravitational wave signal. Each will be relevant for current and planned gravitational wave detectors.
Alexander received his PhD in 2020 from Cornell University, and he was then a Postdoctoral Associate at the University of Virginia from 2020-2023. He joined the University of Southampton as a Research Fellow in 2023.
