Who we are

The 21st century is an exciting time to study politics and international relations
New political movements are springing up around the world, challenging the existing order and providing rewarding fields of study for academic researchers. Our academics are at the forefront of research on these developments, and results of their work directly feed into their teaching to complement lectures and seminars on political science and political theory.
Our Centre for Citizenship, Globalization and Governance (C2G2) merges insights from political science, political theory and international relations and works with researchers from across Social Sciences, the University and beyond to focus on pressing political issues relating to the exercise of power, cooperation, security, inequality and democracy.
Politics and international relations can be studied as single honours or combined with other subjects. A comprehensive programme of postgraduate research and taught degrees builds on the skills and knowledge gained at undergraduate level.
A distinguished history
Founded in 1963, we are one of the leading politics and international relations divisions in the UK.
