Discover the ways that we support our research staff - personally and professionally
Our research institutes are interdisciplinary centres working at the cutting edge of their fields.
In research, there are often a number of issues that touch upon several different academic disciplines. What can happen in this instance is that academics end up working on a small portion of a problem in isolation, unaware of the research of their colleagues – which when put together could lead to a breakthrough.
Our research institutes have formed in response to this problem. They are multi-disciplinary centres of expertise, research, and teaching which allow our researchers to work closely together with colleagues exploring the same problem from a different perspective. This way of working, of combining resources and facilities and exploring new points of view, is an invaluable part of the best research that allows our researchers to work at their optimum level.
You will find more information about the work of individual research institutes on their websites (click the name of the institute to go to the website).
