Our research mission is to develop statistical and demographic methodology with a commitment to applications in the social sciences. Our research activities are concentrated in three main areas:

• Demography and wellbeing
• Sample survey theory and methods
• Statistical modelling

Research Students

The Division has a very strong research student community. At present there are over thirty research students working in the full range of research areas listed above - see our Research Students page for further details. There is a considerable interaction and transfer of skills between students and staff, and a lively programme of research workshops.
