Research interests

I work with normative concepts such as equality, justice and citizenship. My current work focuses on issues and theories of global justice, and especially global egalitarianism. I'm trying to rebut some objections to global egalitarianism, to draw out what global equality might mean in theory and practice, and to think through some of the implications of the idea of national self-determination.

I have also worked on the political theory of recognition and redistribution, feminist theory and feminist normative thought, and on theories of citizenship and of ‘global citizenship’.

Research Supervision

I am very happy to supervise research students in areas related to my own research interests (see above), which are broadly in normative political theory and gender theory. I'd be especially interested to see proposals on topics of global political theory, though I'd would be more than happy to supervise students whose worked touches on any of the areas mentioned above. Please contact me if you would like any advice on drawing up a PhD proposal or an application.
