Balance Course

The Balance Course will now be organised by Windsor ENT and includes national and international experts in the field. Details of the next Balance course will be listed here when available.

The Balance Courses are aimed at clinicians in a variety of disciplines (in particular ENT, Hearing Therapy, Audiology, Physiotherapy and Audiological Medicine) and are held at Chilworth Manor Hotel and Conference Centre, Southampton.

Both courses incorporate group practical work and the examination of patients with specific disorders, as well as exploring a variety of topics:

Beginners Level Balance Course:

The Beginners Level Balance Course is aimed at clinicians who have limited or no experience knowledge of assessment and management of balance disorders.

  • Advanced anatomy and physiology
  • Basic Clinical Examination

  • Caloric Testing and Oculormotor examination

  • Peripheral vestibular disorders

  • Benign paroxysmal positional vertigo (BPPV)

  • Central causes of vestibular loss

  • Rehabilitation - when to refer, who to refer and what to expect

Advanced Level Balance Course:

The Advanced Level Balance Course is aimed at clinicians who have a sound knowledge of vestibular assessment and management and wish to consolidate and advance their knowledge.

  • Advanced anatomy and physiology
  • Advanced testing
  • Advanced bedside clinical examination
  • Psychological issues
  • How testing helps determine therapeutic approach
  • Benign paroxysmal positional vertigo (BPPV)
  • Mechanical disorders
  • Central disorders
  • Rehabilitation of complex unilateral and bilateral vestibular lesions
