Short Courses

We offer a number of short courses for audiologists, clinical scientists, research scientists and related audiological professionals. This page presents an overview of these: visit the pages of the individual courses to find out more.

Balance Course

The Balance Course is organised and hosted by the Institute of Sound & Vibration Research and includes national and international experts in the field. It is split into Beginners' and Advanced courses, which run in alternate years.

Bachelor's level (year 4) modules in audiology

As from the 2009-2010 academic year, we will be offering several modules from the 4th year of the BSc Audiology to external students (UK, EU and overseas). Each module is run over a two-week period; in some instances, these weeks are themselves separated by several weeks. They provide 5 ECTS points or 10 CATS points at H-level. We are currently pursuing accreditation by the British Academcy of Audiology within their continuing professional development scheme.

Master's level modules in audiology

Master's level modules in audiology are now available to external students. Each module is run over a two-week period and provides 5 ECTS points or 10 CATS points at M-level. The modules are a component of the MSc Audiology programme, and you will work with MSc students. The modules are run according to the "problem-based learning" method in which students must solve clinical and scientific problems, drawing on relevant fundamental and clinical information and using team working and critical evaluation skills.

Master's level modules in biomedical signal processing

The Master's level modules in biomedical signal processing are designed clinicians, clinical scientists, technologists or other health professionals with little background in signal processing, mathematics or computing. Each module consists of three- to five-day intensive training. You will have individual use of a notebook computer for hands-on learning activities, and receive an interactive learning CD and software for further guided study.
