Research Interests

What at first might appear to be an eclectic mix of research interests (which includes risk, corporate responsibility and confidentiality), a common theme revolves around understanding decision-making behaviour in an organisational context. I am open to a range of research philosophies and methodologies, although tend to gravitate towards the qualitative end (especially Grounded Theory, Systems Thinking, and even metaphor on the odd occasion).

Current research activities

Further work into 'bubble theory - can nature teach us anything about confidentiality agreements?'

Understanding human perception of environmental conflict: the case of hydropower schemes and the willingness to pay. This project is investigating environmental conflict between stakeholders associated with the development of environmentally sustainable hydropower energy. In collaboration with Laura Watkin (PGR student), Dr. P. Kemp (lead supervisor) and Prof. I. Williams. Fully funded PhD studentship through the ESRC/EPSRC Collaborative Studentship Pilot Scheme (GBP 62,319).

Completed research grants

An attitude survey of corporate responsibility activity in the face of major change. This work was with Prof Humby inconjunction with the Chartered Institute of Purchasing & Supply. GBP 1,500 (Achilles) as well as GBP 1,500 pump-priming funds (University of Southampton).

Understanding the attitudes and behaviours of SME owner/managers in response to the inclusion of Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) criteria in procurement strategies of large organisations: with consequent practice and policy implications (with Dr. D. Baden (PI), Dr. D. Woodward, Dr. A. Knight) - GBP 44,000 ESRC research grant.

'Embedding CSR into Supply: a snapshot of progress' in collaboration with Prof. humby. GBP 1,500 support funding from Achilles.
