Centre for Operational Research, Management Science and Information Systems (CORMSIS)

CORMSIS covers the whole spectrum of management science/operational research/information systems from theoretical mathematical developments to problem structuring and knowledge management. CORMSIS is one of the largest groups of its type in the UK and enjoys an international reputation particularly in risk, optimisation, finance and health.

Centre for Risk Research

The Centre for Risk Research aims to encourage a deeper appreciation of the nature of risk, to develop approaches to its analysis and to assist organisations to improve the quality of decision-making and to manage risk and uncertainty.

Centre for Narrative Studies

The Centre for Narrative Studies explores the role that narrative plays in discovering what organisations know about themselves and how others perceive them. Such narratives sometimes take the form of organisational stories, which might be used to transfer knowledge, encourage collaboration, generate new ideas and influence change in the workplace.

Accounting and Finance

Centre for Research in Accounting, Accountability and Governance (CRAAG)

CRAAG focuses on the relationship between accounting, accountability and governance in as broad a sense as possible.

Centre for Banking, Finance and Sustainable Development (CBFSD)

CBFSD focuses on the link between the financial sector, particularly banking and economic growth and development.

Finance & Banking Research Group

The Finance and Banking Research Group, ranked 15th overall in Europe for research output (source: Journal of Business Finance and Accounting, 2004), has particular strengths in empirical finance and international banking.

Management

Entrepreneurship Research Group

The Entrepreneurship Research Group focuses upon high-tech/high growth firms with research developed through two themes: business incubation and university–industry collaboration.

Marketing Research Group

Marketing at the University of Southampton is underpinned by cutting-edge research and teaching driven by our ‘new Marketing DNA’. This new model of marketing has been developed to characterise what we stand for; the enabling and ubiquitous role of technology in marketing.

Organisational Behaviour and Human Resources Research Group

Research in the Organisational Behaviour and Human Resource Management areas is organised around the key theme of organisational transformation with a particular focus on people issues and the relationship to performance.

Strategy Research Group

The Strategy Research Group has been newly established and focuses on strategy practices, marketing strategy, organisational processes and structure.

Centre for Strategic Innovation

The Centre for Strategic Innovation is a multidisciplinary research group that focuses on innovation as a driver for new businesses and markets, new ways of organising and new ways of creating value.
