Psychology

Psychology is the scientific study of human behaviour and mental functioning. Psychologists are interested in how people think, feel and act – from interactions between neurons to interactions between people.

Through both our undergraduate and postgraduate Psychology degrees you will learn about the various areas covered by contemporary psychology – clinical, cognitive, developmental, health, learning and social. Developing your skills in a wide range of research methods throughout your degree in psychology, you will be able to specialise in those areas of psychology that you find particularly interesting or relevant to your future career goals.

Psychology at Southampton has a tradition of world-class research with 100% of our activity rated as internationally excellent or of world-leading quality for both the impact of our research and the research environment that we offer (REF 2014).

Our academics work at the forefront of their fields, committed to the highest-quality scientific investigation on a range of social, educational and health-related issues that together make a real impact.
