The WSI is home to the Web Science Centre for Doctoral Training (CDT), with over 70 fully funded PhD students. We also run a number of MSc programmes, the first UK undergraduate programme in Web Science and are leading the way in online education with our growing collection of Web Science themed MOOCs.

About the Centre for Doctoral Training

The Web Science Centre for Doctoral Training at the University of Southampton offers 4 year fully funded PhD studentships in Web Science. Each cohort of doctoral students are trained by a dedicated doctoral training centre sponsored by the EPSRC, the University of Southampton and Industry.

Web Science MOOC

The Web Science Massive Open Online Course (MOOC) launched in November 2013. It has already run four times and is being re-released and extended as a series of "mini-moocs" throughout 2016.

CPD Training

The Web Science Institute is offering a range of continuing professional development (CPD) online short courses. These courses are certified by the University of Southampton and run in collaboration with Cambridge Education Group.

We offer a taught MSc Web Science. Furthermore masters programmes such as MSc Digital Marketing (Business School) and MSc Virtual Pasts Humanities) are closely linked to the WSI.
