International researchers and industry professionals interested in using management science and operational research to improve transport planning through logistics and vehicle routing meet in Southampton this week at a prestigious conference.

The University is hosting the second VeRoLog event themed on vehicle routing and logistics; the first was held in Bologna, Italy in July 2012. Keynote speakers include Bruce Golden from the University of Maryland, Maria Grazia Speranza from the University of Brescia and Jean-Francois Cordeau from HEC, Montreal.

Director of Southampton’s Centre for Operational Research, Management Sciences and Information Systems (CORMSIS) Professor Julia Bennell says: "This is an excellent opportunity for academic and industrial experts in transport logistics to discuss their research. Southampton is one of the leading centres for research in this area and we look forward to welcoming participants from around the world."

VeRoLog is a working group of the Association of European Operational Research Societies (EURO) aimed at advancing the development of OR in the field of vehicle routing and logistics.
