Massive Open Online Courses (MOOCs)

What is a MOOC?

A massive open online course (MOOC) is a free study programme designed to be studied online by large numbers of students. In addition to course materials such as video lectures, reading material, coursework and tests, MOOCs provide forums that help students and tutors build an online community.

Who takes our MOOCs?

We have welcomed nearly one million learners from 233 countries onto our courses.

Why study on a UoS MOOC?

Study with our excellent staff and enthusiastic students and enjoy learning alongside a global community of learners. Our MOOCs often include specialists from industry or other organisations.

What else should I know about UoS MOOCs?

We use our MOOCs in an integrated way in education, research and enterprise. We embed them into teaching, invite our students to collaborate with us on content and tutoring, use them to gather research data, and integrate them into partnerships with other Universities and global organisations.
