Faculty of Humanities, University of Southampton 2016-17 Postgraduate Funding

The University of Southampton’s Faculty of Humanities is delighted to announce the availability of Doctoral funding through the South West and Wales Doctoral Training Partnership

The Consortium expects to grant around 56 studentships in 2016-17 across the following Arts and Humanities subjects:


Creative Writing

Drama, Film and TV


History, including Jewish History and Culture

Modern Languages

Eligible applicants should register by Monday 9 November 2015 for the Information Day on 23th November 2015 in Cardiff at .

Competition opens on 30th November 2015 and the closing date for applications is 11th January 2016.

In addition to AHRC funding the following doctoral scholarships are available for Faculty of Humanities post-graduate applicants:

  • ESRC DTC doctoral scholarship in Linguistics and Social History (fees and maintenance)
  • University of Southampton Archival Scholarship (fees and maintenance)
  • University of Southampton Vice-Chancellor’s Scholarships (£7,000 per annum for three years)
  • Southampton Marine and Maritime Institute Leverhulme Scholarships (fees and maintenance)

To be considered for the above funding (non AHRC) you need to complete a University of Southampton application and a Humanities Funding Form by the deadline of 12th February 2016.
