Alan Coleman BSc Management , 2016
Business Development Manager, Castle Trust
I have been interested in business-related subjects since I took Business Studies at GCSE. Being a broad subject, it is very varied and allows you to gain many transferable skills. Thanks to this degree, I have now started a job in a mortgage and investment company in Basingstoke, in fact I started yesterday and they were kind enough to give me a day off for Graduation.
Highlights of my time at the University include excellent lecturers, who made complex matters such as financial accounting come to life.
Highlights of my time at the University include excellent lecturers, who made complex matters such as financial accounting come to life. I became particularly interested in the finance world as it is constantly undergoing change and there is a constant trade-off between risk and reward.
During my degree, I had the chance to take part in a number of placements linked to the community. One of which was the student consultancy programme. Our four-strong team carried out an assessment of a local business and suggested possible improvements. I consider these opportunities invaluable especially after focusing on the importance of student employability in my dissertation.
