Laurie Stras awarded music scholarship prize

CMRC member Laurie Stras (Music) has won an American Society of Composers, Authors and Publishers Deems Taylor award for her article "White face, black voice: race, gender, and region in the music of the Boswell sisters," in the Journal of the Society for American Music (2007). The ASCAP Deems Taylor Awards program recognizes books, articles, broadcasts and websites on the subject of music selected for their excellence.
