CMRC's Reuter Lecture and Masterclass 2015 The Centre for Medieval and Renaissance Culture at the University of Southampton invites applications from second and final year phD students, and recent postdocs to take part in the 2015 Reuter Masterclass.

The masterclass will precede the 2015 Reuter Lecture, to be given by Professor Mary Carruthers of New York University and All Souls, Oxford, and will be led by her.  The topic of Professor Carruthers' lecture is on 'Terror, Horror and the Fear of God'.

Participants in the masterclass may come from any disciplinary background, and will present 20 minute papers comprising studies relating to aesthetics and sensory knowledge from the early medieval period through to 1700.  They should demonstrate a nuanced understanding of the value, potential, and perhaps limitations of their approach to the study of this theme.  A prize will be awarded.

Please send a brief biography (max 100 words), with a title and an abstract for your proposed paper (max 250 words) to Professor Chris Woolgar ( c.m.woolgar@southampton.ac.uk ) by 1 May 2015
