Professor Aamer Hussein launches new novel
Creative writing Professor Aamer Hussein launches his new novel, The Cloud Messenger.
Aamer Hussein, Professor in Creative Writing at the University of Southampton, launched his novel, The Cloud Messenger, on 2 March at Daunt Books, London.
The novel, published by Telegram, tells the story of the enigmatic Mehran who leaves his childhood in Karachi for rainy postwar London. Described as 'sophisticated, cosmopolitan, and seductive' by the Times Literary Supplement, the novel draws on Persian, Urdu and Sanskrit poetry to chart Mehran's romantic and intellectual journeys.
