AHRC Grant: The Visible Crown

Published: 3 December 2020
Alice Hunt

Dr Alice Hunt is part of the research team on a major AHRC-funded project ‘The Visible Crown: Elizabeth II and the Caribbean, 1952-present’. Elizabeth II is head of state in nine Caribbean countries. Despite recent calls by Caribbean leaders to cut ties with the British crown, the last Caribbean territory to become a republic was Dominica, in 1978. This project investigates why these bonds have proved so resilient despite major social and cultural change in these countries, , working with non-academic partners in the UK and Caribbean. Dr Hunt will lead the research strand into the royal tours in the region.
