Public talk at the Southampton City Art Gallery Event

Will May (English) gave public talks and gallery tours at the Southampton City Art Gallery on 18 September to accompany the exhibition 'Writers of Influence: Shakespeare to J K Rowling'.
The talks explored how writers and lyricists from George Eliot to Jarvis Cocker have used visual techniques in their work. Separate sessions were run for the gallery's youth project group and adult education class. Will drew on research from his recent monograph 'Stevie Smith and Authorship' (OUP, 2010), which examines the relationship between poetry and illustration.
