Miss Megan Henesy is Postgraduate research student within English at the University of Southampton.

I completed an Undergraduate Degree in Fine Art at the Arts Institute at Bournemouth in 2006, and went on to study for a part-time Masters Degree in Classical Studies at the Open University which I completed in 2011.  My main areas of interest during the Masters were Ancient Greek Theatre and Greek Historiography, with my dissertation centering on the writing of Thucydides.

I can be contacted on Linked In and Academia.edu

Research interests

My current research interests lie in Contemporary Women's Literature.  My doctoral research focuses on the work of Hilary Mantel, Ali Smith and Kate Atkinson. In particular I am interested in the way they present and use autobiographical memory, reminiscence and trauma in their writing, and how these types of memory influence the identities of the characters in their novels.

Conference Contributions

I contributed a poster to the 2013 Post Graduate Research Showcase at The University of Southampton entitled ‘‘Ghost Alzheimer's' and Memory in Ali Smith's Hotel World and Hilary Mantel's Beyond Black' which was highly commended by the panel.  I also presented a paper of the same title at the International Conference of Narrative at the University of Manchester in June 2013.
