Global Lounge Student Committee 2021/22

During Autumn 2021, Faculty International Office (FIO) colleagues and Dr Rob Angell (current Director of Internationalisation for Southampton Business School and our incoming Associate Dean International for the Faculty of Social Sciences) took on a new adventure to change the way we approach Student Experience within FIO. After several conversations and meetings, we decided to recruit volunteers to form our Faculty of Social Sciences Global Lounge Student Committee.

We had a positive response and around 50 students from all the Schools in the Faculty of Social Sciences from a wide range of nationalities and courses applied for these roles. 
 
We would like to express our gratitude to all of you who took the time to apply for these volunteer positions. We wish we had more positions; it was a very tough decision, but we could only select some of you!  
 
A big thank you to Holly Street (Careers and Employability Officer in Southampton Business School) for all your insights, to colleagues’ support along the way, and a big congratulations to our first intake of The Global Lounge Student Committee!

We are still on early stages and we still having some initial meetings with our first intake of The Global Lounge Student Committee, but we look forward to sharing more news soon!
