Welcome Dinner 2022

On 20th October 2022, we hosted an international partner student welcome dinner. This has been a long tradition for Faculty of Social Sciences. It’s been well-received for many years and well-known amongst our partner institutions. The team is so pleased that we are in the position to resume it after a two-year hiatus due to the pandemic.

Prof Sabu Padmadas (Associate Dean International of Social Sciences), as well as Nikos Tzavidis (Head of School for Economic, Social and Political Sciences), Dr Emanuela Lotti (Head of Department Economics), and Directors of Internationalisation Jan Podivinsky (School of Economic, Social and Political Sciences), Stephan Onggo (Southampton Business School) and Carlos Lobo (School of Mathematical Sciences), were all present to extend their warmest welcome alongside Faculty International Office colleagues.

We were delighted to be able to introduce students to leading academics in the schools and to PhD student Jinghan Guan, their partner student advisor. Moreover, to inform them about the support that we provide to partner programmes. 

Song Utz (Senior Executive Officer of Faculty International Office) said: “The beauty of study abroad is to go beyond one’s comfort zone, learn from other cultures and embrace the world. I had a great time getting to know the partner students and hearing their individual stories.”
