In October 2022, Faculty of Social Sciences colleagues Song Utz (Senior Executive Officer of Faculty International Office), Professor Nikos Tzavidis (Head of School for Economic, Social and Political Sciences) and Dr Paolo Spada (Lecturer of Politics within School of Economic, Social and Political Sciences) visited our partner university Universita Cattolica del Sacro Cuore (UCSC) in Italy.

In Rome, Social Sciences colleagues attended an International Student Fair hosted by UCSC. The event took place on several campuses, which was an excellent opportunity for staff to meet with partner students, and further develop student recruitment and research connections. What a vibrant and beautiful campus to study at! As Anotole Broyard said, “Rome is a poem pressed into service as a city.”

This was followed by attendance at further international fairs in Piacenza and Milan in which staff had excellent conversations with students and UCSC. We are enthused about creating more pathways for students. Song Utz said: "It’s always a delight to exchange with young minds. Their curiosity and zest for life are infectious. I hope our discussions helped to answer the students’ questions. I am keen to share what we can offer to support their learning journey, and how we strive to help them integrate with the Southampton community and build a home away from home. A big thank-you to our friends at UCSC for your wonderful hospitality!"
