Jinghong Jiang joined the University this year on the MSc Social Research Methods with Applied Statistics programme, this is a one year Masters degree.

After studying and living at the University of Southampton, I have a deeper understanding of my subject and I have become more independent

What do you like most about your course? Why did you choose it over other international options?

I heard about the MSc Social Research Methods with Applied Statistics programme on the University website. In addition, I have a Wechat group which has some fellow students who are on related programmes (Wechat is an APP which is common in China)

Are there any challenge you face studying and living in the UK?

Yes, I am not familiar with the system, and I need to do all the things myself

What are your main tips for new starters at the University of Southampton?

Make a plan. Get fully prepared. You will have a lot of fun at the University of Southampton
