Yang Wang came to the University of Southampton in 2015 as part of our 2+2 programme with Jiangxi University of Finance and Economics. We asked him about what he enjoyed about his time here.

I would say, it is studying at the University of Southampton that let me know my interest and talent in Economics.

1.            How did you find the application process through the International Office?

The application process through the International office is convenient and efficient. JUFE gave us an overview about Southampton before the application, which is very helpful. Besides, we have a teacher that leads us in every step of the application.

2.            How did the University of Southampton and the International Office specifically help in enhancing your study experience in the UK?

The office arranged language classes for us in the first year, which is helpful for us to get used to the life and study here, we learned a lot through the courses. In addition, the office hosted several meeting to discuss life and study in Southampton, to help us learn other students' ways to fit in the study here and improve our ways.

3.            What do you like most about your course? Why did you choose it over other international options?

I like the economics study in Southampton the most. I would say, it is studying at the University of Southampton that let me know my interest and talent in Economics, and lead me to go further in the Economics study.

4.            Are there any challenges you face studying and living in the UK?

On the whole, the study in Southampton is relaxed and fun. I enjoy it very much. I would say I need to improve the ability of time management and planning for the future. University study is more like self study, time management is significant if you want to achieve more things in the university, besides, make a reasonable plan for the things you want to do.

5.            What tips would you give to other international students planning to study at the University of Southampton?

I suggest they make the application as soon as they make the decision to come to Southampton, since the places are limited and competitive.

6.            Would you recommend studying at Southampton to other potential international students?

Of course, I think the study in Southampton programme is the best among those partnership programs, the study in Southampton is very helpful to build a successful career.
