Patient-Centered Outcomes Research Institute (PCORI) Methodology Standards for qualitative and mixed methods research

Published: 30 August 2018

In January this year Professor Catherine Pope was an invited international expert for the panel in Washington DC working on the new Patient-Centered Outcomes Research Institute (PCORI) Methodology Standards for qualitative and mixed methods research. PCORI's Methodology Committee works to define and update methodological standards for patient-centered outcomes research.

To date, the Methodology Committee has created or endorsed Methodology Standards that provide guidance in 13 topic areas, for a total of 54 standards. At its July 24, 2018 meeting, PCORI’s Board of Governors accepted the Committee's proposal to update the standards with qualitative and mixed methods research containing 7 new standards.

PCORI are now inviting comments on these proposed new standards, as required under PCORI’s authorizing law. The deadline for submitting comments is Friday, September 21, 2018, at 5:00 pm ET.
