Historical Pianos at the National Trust Event

As the lockdown lifts across the UK, more and more of us are heading to National Trust properties to make the most of the good weather. This webinar invites you to think more about the sounds inside some of these National Trust properties, beyond the birdsong and sounds of summer. When you walk through some of the properties, you catch a glimpse of a piano in the corner, sometimes you are even lucky to hear it! Join Dr Joyce Tang, who recently completed her doctorate on nineteenth-century pianos, as she recounts her tour of select National Trust properties in 2019, playing and recording on various historic pianos. Joyce will be talking about the history of some of these pianos, about piano making and brands in the nineteenth century beyond the well-known Steinway and a glimpse into the musical sounds which filled some of these National Trust properties in the past.
