Wovon man nicht sprechen kann, darüber muss man schweigen - Whereof one cannot speak, thereof one must be silent - (Ludwig Wittgenstein)
Alessio studied Medicinal Chemistry and Pharmaceutical Technology at the University of Pavia (Italy). He got the master’s degree in July 2017 with a final grade of 108/110.
He had the opportunity to study a wide range of subjects: from organic and inorganic chemistry to human anatomy and physiology, biology, biochemistry, in addition to medicinal chemistry, quality control and so on.
Always interested in pharmaceutical technology he decided to work for his master thesis (10 months) at the Department of Drug Sciences (University of Pavia), preparing and characterizing binary systems of an API with low water solubility (Betulinic acid) and a semi-synthetic cyclodextrin (DIMEB).
After the graduation he gained a scholarship (from September 2017 to December 2017) and he continued to prepare and characterize binary systems of an API with low chemical stability and other excipients to improve its physico-chemical properties.
Thanks to the Erasmus Traineeship program, he’s now working at the University of Southampton (department of Engineering and the Environment) on the evaluation and calibration of performance of microfluidic devices.
