Hi, I'm Michelle Turner and I studied BA German and Spanish within Humanities at the University of Southampton.

Studying at Southampton has been really enjoyable, challenging and thought provoking. The lecturers are friendly and helpful, going far beyond their duties to ensure relatively problem-free study.

Studying at Southampton has been really enjoyable, challenging and thought provoking. We are encouraged to look into many aspects of language, not just learning how to speak it. I have so far studied linguistics, film and literature as well as various other cultural aspects of the countries where my chosen languages are spoken. The lecturers are friendly and helpful, going far beyond their duties to ensure relatively problem-free study.

Experiences of the year aboard

I haven’t had my year abroad yet, but I am looking forward to it immensely. I hope to go to the Canary Islands with my boyfriend and work as a teaching assistant.

Experiences of university life

As a mature student I was a little worried that I wouldn’t fit in with uni life, but quite the opposite is true. I get on really well with everyone here and although I live on the Isle of Wight I do manage to go out 'socialising' with fellow students. In fact sometimes I even forget that I have reached the grand old age of 34!! All in all I love it here.
