Dr Irina Baydarova PhD, BBus (Human Resource Management)

Dr Irina Baydarova is an Assistant Professor of Business Management and the Head of Business Foundation Programme at the University of Southampton Malaysia since 2021. Irina obtained her PhD in Social Science and Bachelor in Human Resource Management from the Swinburne University of Technology Sarawak. She has participated in various international conferences and received a Runner-Up Award for 3MT Competition.

Irina’s current research interests include supervisory practices in higher education, researcher development, and dialogic (critical) pedagogy in higher education. She also has growing interest in implications of HRM practices.

Research interests

Irina’s research pipeline includes both the individual contribution to the higher education and human resource management fields as well as collaborative research with colleagues from University of Southampton Malaysia and University of Southampton UK.

She is currently involved in collaborative project that focuses on higher education development. She is the Principal Investigator on grant project titled “The Analysis of the Strength, Weakness, and Multi-Pronged Optimization Strategies of Online Education During and After the COVID-19 Pandemic”. The project focuses on strategies to enhance the online learning process.

Another project that she currently undertakes titled “Balancing concurrent work demands in academia and maintaining work-life balance: Successful cases of Malaysian academics”. The project focuses on identifying the successful strategies academics apply to navigating between various academic and administrative roles and achieving work-life balance.
