Mr Ivan Lai BEng, M. Edu, FHEA

Engineering Foundation Year Lecturer

A versatile person, Mr. Lai has tried his hand in various industries, including business education and health. He obtained his Master’s in Educational Technology and his BEng in Electrical & Electronics Engineering from University Technology Malaysia.

He previously taught physics for pre-university students taking A-levels, AUSMAT and Monash University Foundation Course. He was also awarded recognition as an HEA Fellow in 2018. The title of HEA Fellow bears an individual’s ability to manage, develop and take practical approaches to teaching and learning support as critical contributions to high-quality student learning. To acquire this award, he has comprehended dimensions of the UK Professional Standards Framework (UKPSF) and successfully engaged across all areas of professional values of teaching and supporting learning activities. Currently, he is the Head of the Engineering Foundation Programme. He is teaching Electricity and Electronics at the University of Southampton Malaysia. He is also experienced in teaching Fundamental of Science & Engineering, Engineering Principles, Mechanical Science and Academic & Personal Development.
