CALL FOR PAPERS - Local Population Studies Society Conference
The Local Population Studies Society spring Conference will be held on 17 April 2021, organised in conjunction with the University of Southampton.
At present, this conference will be in a virtual format, though we hope to offer a face-to-face option at the Southampton Centre for Nineteenth-Century Research should the disease environment allow this.
The conference is intended to showcase the work being done on local population history by postgraduate and postdoctoral researchers in universities in the United Kingdom and elsewhere in Europe. ‘Local population studies’ is broadly defined, and includes topics such as:
fertility and mortality patterns,
migration,
health,
household and family structure,
labour force participation,
economic, social and cultural characteristics
and the interrelationships between these. Papers are invited from researchers in both social sciences and the humanities and using both quantitative and qualitative methods.
Please submit offers of papers to the Conference organisers: Stephanie Thiehoff (S.Thiehoff@soton.ac.uk) and Andrew Hinde (PRAHinde@aol.com). Offers should include the following: title, name(s) of author(s) and an abstract of 150-200 words.
