The Brain and Society - Question Time Event

This stimulating and fun event aims to encourage enquiry, debate and even controversy as leading academics give 5-minute presentations on issues relating to the brain and society before throwing the field open to all-comers. Hear about the issue of criminal responsibility for acts performed whilst intoxicated; how self-control, while valued by society can lead, if too much is applied, to problems like depression and anorexia; addiction to alcohol and the problem for medicine/ the medical profession; whether or not we still have a hunter's brain inside an urban body; and memory loss - who are we when we lose our memory? Come and debate with our experts! Chaired by Professor Alex Neill (Philosophy), speakers include: Professor Hazel Biggs (Law), Professor Tom Lynch (Psychology), Professor Paul Roderick (Medicine) Professor Clive Gamble (Archaeology and Dr Cheryl Hawkes (Medicine).

Tea/coffee and cakes will be from 10am with the event starting at 11am.

BTG aims to deliver high-quality projects directed towards the global physical, economic and social challenges that face today's modern world, as well as supporting projects and activities that foster and develop interdisciplinary research activity, particularly between engineering and physical sciences and other disciplines.
