Title: Current status and future prospects of the LIGO detectors

Abstract: The discoveries made by the LIGO and Virgo detectors have had a transformative impact on astronomy and astrophysics. Taking full advantage of the gravitational-wave window requires a new network of observatories that can survey the Universe on its largest scales and provide information of broad interest in astrophysics, cosmology, and nuclear physics. In this talk, I will review the discoveries made by the gravitational-wave detectors and discuss future plans. I will also show how to convert the existing km-scale facilities to the axion detectors once new 10-km scale facilities, such as Einstein Telescope and Cosmic Explorer, become operational.
