The University of Southampton offers apprenticeships based on where there are known succession challenges or a recognised need to develop talent pools of appropriately qualified and skilled employees. This means all of our apprenticeships result in a permanent job on successful completion of the apprenticeship.
The University offers apprenticeships in different areas and at different times of the year, although often the role will actually start at the same time as the off the job training element, for example at the start of a college year in September. The University is committed to starting people on technical apprenticeships every year.
Many of our current technicians at the University started as apprentices or trainees, there are opportunities in many different areas for technicians, for example Science, Engineering, Skilled crafts, the Arts and more. Some have even gone back to being an apprentice to gain more skills and knowledge!
