Technical Skills Survey – Personal Reports released

Following the closure of the Technical Skills Survey, the National Technician Development Centre (NTDC) have now sent out the individual reports to staff who completed the survey and the high level analysis of this data on behalf of Southampton’s Technician Commitment. We would like to thank all of those staff who contributed to this piece of work.

Overall technical engagement with the skills survey was good, with 59% of all Technical and Experimental staff across the University completing the survey.

Further information about the overall results will be available in the coming months. We anticipate this information being used to:

• inform activities in our 3-year action plan being led by each of the working groups
• to gain a better understanding of the depth and breadth of technical skills at Southampton
• to gain a better understanding of where there are skills gaps and to develop a case to plug these in the future
• to create more opportunities for (funded) training, career development and mentoring for technical staff
