BA Fashion and Textiles students awarded prestigious MADE IT Production Internships
We are proud to announce that two second-year undergraduate students, Rosie Spurrier (BA Textiles) and Henna Ibrahim (BA Fashion Design), have been awarded internships supported by the MADE-IT Bursary. The MADE IT Production Internship is a highly regarded program that offers students the opportunity to gain hands-on experience in real production settings.
Developed in partnership with WSA and the UK Fashion and Textile Association (UKFT), the MADE IT Production Internship offers an opportunity for hands-on experience within the fashion and textile industry. This year's recipients, Rosie Spurrier and Henna Ibrahim, carefully selected from a pool of outstanding candidates, will embark on an enriching journey to gain insights into production processes, sourcing methods, and industry practices.
Sharon Williams, Programme Leader of BA Fashion Design, expressed her enthusiasm, stating, "We are thrilled to hear that Henna has the unique opportunity to experience skills, insight and processes within the UK fashion manufacturing system. She will be a real asset to any organisation, with a great ‘can do’ attitude and the professional maturity expected of a Winchester School of Art, University of Southampton student. UKFTs commitment to supporting such new talent to experience current and future production requirements is a really considered employability approach thoughtfully connecting education to industry.”
Charlie Ellis, Programme Leader of BA Textile Design, echoed Sharon's sentiments, adding, "This is an exciting opportunity from which Rosie will benefit greatly through experiencing how real-life design and production works. She is a very committed student, she works hard and enjoys supporting her fellow classmates, she is a wonderful ambassador and social media champion for the BA Textile Design programme. Rosie is a talented creative print designer with a highly professional attitude, and she will bring all these attributes to whichever company she will carry out her internship with.
