Explore international societies, economies and landscapes and the processes that shape our world. Gain the knowledge and skills to study these social, economic, political and cultural forces. Our social science-focussed degree will equip you to understand geographies of inequality, migration, labour markets, economic development, health, well-being and social justice. You’ll graduate prepared to work in fields including research, consultancy and public policy.

You’ll learn valuable analytical and communication skills.   and how to collect and analyse data using a range of methods  You'll have the chance to:

  • undertake fieldwork to study urban landscapes, potentially in Europe or South East Asia
  • learn about political and economic change in cities and across societies globally
  • research human geography using different concepts, approaches and ways of collecting data

This course offers theory modules, practical fieldwork (both locally and abroad) and project work. You can shape the course to suit your personal interests or career plans by choosing from specialist modules.

You'll also carry out an individual research project guided by an academic supervisor and develop sought-after skills and knowledge.

This degree course involves no physical geography elements. If you wish to retain the option to focus on aspects of physical geography later in the course, consider our Geography (BA) degree.
