Hi, I'm Sophie Griffiths and I studied BA History and Archaeology within Humanities at the University of Southampton.

I came to Southampton because of the campus, I really liked the idea of there being a community spirit – it wasn’t all spread out, whenever you walk anywhere you’re likely to see someone that you know.

Why did you come to Southampton to study?

I came to Southampton because of the campus, I really liked the idea of there being a community spirit – it wasn’t all spread out, whenever you walk anywhere you’re likely to see someone that you know.

What are the highlights of your time here?

My highlights were being on the hockey team – the socials were amazing!
The Archaeology and History socials were also brilliant, no one was afraid to talk to each other.

Would you recommend your programme to others?

I’d definitely recommend others to come and study here, because it’s such a community spirit. You get to know so many people through your course, sports clubs and societies.

What do you think about the teaching you recieved?

The teaching is amazing – if ever I sent an email to anybody I would have a quick reply, even if it was just to say they’d be getting back to me in a bit. Being here has really helped me – looking at my lecturers, the ones that engaged and brought things to life, and for me it confirmed that ‘this is what I want to do’.

What are your ambitions for the future?

I want to go on and do teaching, but I’m having a gap year and then hopefully going on to Bristol University to do my PGCE, teaching History to secondary school pupils.

Describe your time here in 3 words:

WORK HARD, PLAY HARD
