Two LLM students of Maritime Law have secured coveted summer internships at the City of London office of Lloyds Register.

Sam Upton and Maria Eleni Kossyfa will be shadowing a different in-house lawyer each day for a week in July, carrying out online legal research and making a presentation to the Legal Director and his deputy. Other activities are expected to include a visit to the Royal Courts of Justice and a barrister’s chambers.

"I’m sure it will be an amazing experience to meet lawyers in this field and learn what it’s like to work at Lloyds Register," says Maria who plans to take bar exams in Athens and practise law both in Greece and in other European countries.

Sam adds "This is a rare opportunity to discover more about such a prestigious in-house legal operation. I intend to specialise in maritime law after graduation so this internship will be invaluable."
