University of Southampton staff and students and UHS staff may use all University of Southampton libraries. If you are working at another local hospital you can also join your hospital library. Readers from local NHS Trusts can only use the Health Services Library.

How many items can I borrow? How do I renew an item?

Please see our main Loans page for details of how many items you can borrow, renewals and penalties for late return.

How do I return books?

Post the book(s) through the returned books slot at the Health Services Library Loans Desk. You need not wait for the loan to be cancelled. When the library is closed books may be returned to the 'Returned Book Box' which is outside the Health Services Library next to the entrance doors.

Can I borrow periodicals?

In general, you cannot take periodicals out of the library. Exceptions are made for some titles and these are clearly marked. Photocopying facilities are available in the library.
