Money matters

As a postgraduate student you will need to pay annual tuition fees to the University for your programme of study. You may be able to apply for funding to help you cover your costs.

When planning your finances, you will also need to consider other expenses such as living costs, accommodation fees and study materials. Visit the University’s Postgraduate fees and funding page for more information about living costs.

Fees

These vary according to the type of programme you choose (eg research or taught; classroom-laboratory- or workshop-based; clinical). Fees charged for full-time non-EU international students include the full cost of tuition, examinations, Students’ Union membership and research support expenses. Bursaries

MSc Bursaries for University of Southampton Students

The Management School offers a bursary of £1,000 to any University of Southampton student who wishes to undertake further study onto one of the MSc programmes available within the School following graduation in 2013. Normal entry criteria will apply.

MSc International Banking and Financial Studies

One bursary (Sir Edward Holden Educational Trust) to fully cover tuition fees for well qualified self-financing UK resident student.

We are delighted to announce that we are offering scholarships of £3000 - £5000 to students from Bahrain, Jordan, Kuwait, Lebanon, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, Syria, UAE, Egypt, Israel, Oman, Yemen, Libya, Iraq, West Bank and Gaza who have been offered a place on one of the School’s MSc programmes starting October 2013.

To qualify for one of our £5000 scholarships you must have a First or the equivalent GPA from your country: GPA 3.5/4 or 4.3/5 and you must meet all our entry requirements.

£5,000 Competitive Scholarships

In addition to the above Scholarships we have a number of competitive scholarships worth up to £5000. There are two of these scholarships available to each of the following countries:


United Kingdom/ European Union, Turkey, Russia, Singapore, Brunei, Indonesia and India

Applicants from Russia and India, if successful, would not be awarded both the International Scholarship and the competitive scholarship, but would receive, on successful application, an overall scholarship of £5000.


The scholarships will be awarded on a competitive basis. The Scholarships will be awarded by the MBA programme director based on the following criteria:


1 - You must have applied for a place on the University of Southampton MBA programme
2 - You must hold a 1st Class Honour Bachelor Degree (or equivalent GPA above 3.5/4 or 4.25/5; India over 70%)
3 - You must have submitted a 500 - 750 words personal statement containing:
• Evidence of career progression and professional achievement;
• How the MBA would enhance your career prospect;
• How your work experience to date can be made relevant to peers/colleagues on the MBA programme
The deadline to be considered for the Full-time MBA scholarships is 30th June 2013. A decision on who is awarded the scholarships will be made within 3 weeks following the deadline.

 PhD Scholarships

The University of Southampton’s School of Management is internationally recognised as one of the UK’s leading centres for management education and research.

The School will be offering a small number of PhD Scholarships for full-time entry in September 2012.

We will consider applications to undertake research in any area of: Accounting, Banking, Corporate Social Responsibility, Entrepreneurship, Financial Markets, Health Management, Human Resources, Information Technology/Systems, Innovation, Management Science, Marketing, Organisational Behaviour, Organisational Research, Risk, Supply Chain Management, and Strategy.

Please apply for a place on our MPhil/PhD programme by following these instructions.

All completed applications, which include all supporting documents, received by 30 March 2012 will be considered for the scholarships. The supporting documents are: a research proposal, two academic references, certified copies of degree certificates and transcripts and an English language certificate (if appropriate).

The criteria for the Scholarship are:
Academic excellence
Research potential (a well written research proposal will support this)
