New BBC2 television series 'Oceans' presented by University of Southampton Archaeology staff
In June 2007 the 'Oceans' team began a series of underwater scientific expeditions to build a global picture of our seas.
Each hour long programme was filmed in a different sea or ocean from June 2007. The programme features maritime archaeologist Dr Lucy Blue , senior lecturer in Archaeology and co-director of the Centre for Maritime Archaeology , and marine biologist Tooni Mahto , who are both from the University of Southampton. The team of divers, scientists and film-makers also included:
- explorer Paul Rose
- environmentalist Philippe Cousteau
Oceans is scheduled to be shown on BBC2 in early November 2008
