Jewish Religious Education Board

The Board was founded to provide instruction in Hebrew and religion for Jewish children attending public elementary schools in London. It also provided classes for children attending senior schools and was involved in the maintenance of Sabbath classes. During the Second World War its activities were merged with those of the Joint Emergency Committee for Jewish Religious Education.

Minute book of the executive committee of the Jewish Religious Education Board, 1878-87, including annual reports, 1878-9, and annual reports of the Jewish Association for the Diffusion of Religious Knowledge, 1881-5.

Teachers' training committee, students' book (men), 1894-1908, and teachers' training committee, students' book (women), 1898- 1920.

Seventeen volumes of 'The Director's Report', report of the director of Jewish Education to the general committee for Jewish Education, 1922-39. Four volumes and an index volume of notes on books by the director of Jewish Education, 1922-40.

Papers relating to Aria College, Southsea, 1920s-30s.

List of subscriptions of the appeal for the Jewish Religious Education Board, with list of covenants, 1937.
