MS 400 Machzike Hadath (Spitalfields Great Synagogue) record of seat sales

Machzike Hadath

Founded in 1891 in the East End of London, the Machzike Hadath (also known as the Spitalfields Great Synagogue) merged in 1893 with the Machzike Shomrei Shabbat Synagogue. Premises were acquired in Spitalfields in 1898 where the congregation remained until the synagogue was moved to Golders Green in 1970.

About the collection 

Two volumes of record seat sales in Spitalfields Great Synagogue for the High Holy days, one for the sale for gentlemen’s tickets, the other for the sale for ladies’ tickets giving the names in Hebrew script of those who acquired the seat.
