Business School postgraduate honoured for her summer project
Management Sciences and Finance postgraduate student Dandan Shi has won a Boeing Award for Excellence for her summer project to model financial risk for Virgin Money. She moved to the University of Southampton after taking her first degree in biotechnology at Shanghai Jiao Tong University and working for two years for the Chinese government.
“I enjoyed learning the analytical skills to work with companies during my Masters degree and have decided to remain at Southampton and study for a PhD,” she says. “The University is a friendly place and I have enjoyed both its academic challenges and social life.”
The Business School’s postgraduate degrees in Management and Finance combine theory with practice to supports students to develop a variety of methods and approaches to tackle real-life business problems. Some of the programmes end with a three month project in a company or organisation in the UK or overseas. Many alumni are now in senior positions in many different professions across the world.
