Placement students return to campus to share their experiences
Placement students from Southampton Business School returned to the University for a conference day on Friday 2 December. Students delivered a number of engaging presentations detailing different aspects of life on placement, to an audience of first and second year students.
From large multinationals including Estée Lauder and IBM, to local small and medium enterprises such as Fresh Relevance and Churchers Bolitho Way, students spoke about their rewarding experiences which added value to their studies and career development.
Staff from Southampton Business School interacted with placement students over lunch, while programme leaders hosted discussion groups reflecting on the connection between studies and the workplace.
Placement Advisor Rochelle Clark said:
“Bringing employers and placement students on campus is an opportunity for effective collaborative working which helps secure opportunities for our students and employers alike. It was our biggest and brightest conference yet, adding value to the profile of our Faculty and the University as a whole”.
Employers in attendance included Jaguar Land Rover, who commented:
"Having events like this one is invaluable to students looking to have a successful kick-start to their careers. It was a huge pleasure to introduce the automotive sector to students who haven't previously considered it as one of their options."
Current placement students will return to Southampton in September 2017 to complete their undergraduate studies. For details on the Southampton Business School placement programme, email the team or click here .
