Five MSc students recently had the opportunity to present their ideas for their dissertation to a panel from CPA Australia.

Students on MANG6322 Foundations of Research in Accounting and Finance submitted a 100 word topic outline for their forthcoming dissertation, and Ting Zhou, Lamaa Abdulaziz Al-Moosa, Thi Thu Trang Le, Ayush Mithaiwala and Pen Mubing were shortlisted by an internal panel. The students presented their ideas to a panel from CPA Australia comprising Philip Sourry, Non-Executive Director for the Salvation Army and CPA Australia Councillor, Tanya Alexander, Senior Management Consultant, and Colleen Schooling, CPA Australia Regional Head (Europe and UAE).

The panel was impressed with the enthusiasm of all the students and the questions posed by the panel helped the students to refine their ideas. Colleen commented, "Philip and Tanya were able to share their business expertise with the students, and this will add significant value to their research.

All shortlisted students received a goody bag which included a Kindle Wi-Fi Touch E-Reader. The winner was Thi Tru Trang Le who will examine "Governance structure and organisational performance in non-profit organisations, the case of big UK Charities". She commented, "this was an amazing event which challenged me to reach my potential."

Trang also received an exclusive one-to-one mentoring session and lunch with CPA Australia's CEO, Alex Malley (The Naked CEO) on his next trip to the UK. Alex provides online mentoring to students encouraging them to dream big, pursue their passion and be inspired. His website is available at www.thenakedceo.com
