Southampton Business School is pleased to announce the second edition of Profile Magazine is now available to view and download below.

In this issue, we explore the use of mobile apps in the workplace through research conducted by  Dr Tahir Nisar, who predicts a rise in popularity of bespoke apps in the next few years. Tahir has identified a range of benefits of apps in business, and is eager to extend his research globally by studying organisations in South Africa, Turkey and India.

We also discuss research from Professor Yehuda Baruch, who has been investigating how swearing in the workplace and actually lead to positive consequences. Yehuda cites the most common reasons for swearing include frustrating meetings and stressful situations, and that swearing can help co-workers to bond with each other.

Dr Roy Edwards provides an interesting article on the use of archives to study business decisions, and how we at Southampton Business School include this in our teaching. This method of analysing business strategy helps students to better understand current affairs and how the principles of business and accounting are implemented in real-world scenarios.

This and much more can be found in the October issue of Profile Magazine.
